Ducati Cup gets up to speed for Round 3!
Round 3 of the CMRA Ducati Cup was a quick one with several racers setting new personal best lap times around the 2.1mile road course at Race City Motorsports Park.
At the flag drop, Ryan Taylor, Rupert Collins, Amy Karthaus and Rob Porter blasted away from the field of 13 bikes. Ryan Taylor got the hole shot where he led the race for 2 laps before being passed by Rob Porter.
Ryan Taylor remained strong in second place with Rupert Collins settling into a solid 3rd.
Amy Karthaus seemed to be struggling with her Revoluzione/Majik 848 as she lost ground steadily being passed first by Yukiya Ishiguro, then Derek Sandilands and finally Kelly Gingras.
Behind Kelly Gingras were the 749’s of Don Bachek, and Chris Istace who were setting some blistering lap times trying to catch the main group.
On lap 7 Paul Slack who had been running a sold race, ran out of fuel and was forced to retire. On lap 8, Kelly Gingras experienced a shifter failure and was forced to circulate in only 3rd gear. Amy Karthaus, Chris Istace and Don Bachek all passed the wounded Duc for some added points.
Riding hard and setting some great lap times were a still injured Dave Dunbar, and novice riders Brad McDougall and Michael Sutherland.
At the checkered flag it was Robert Porter (33): 1st, Ryan Taylor (10) 2nd, Rupert Collins (27) 3rd.
New personal best times were set by Robert Porter (1:22:976), Rupert Collins (1:25:553), Yukiya Ishiguro (1:27:554), Chris Istace (1:27:638), Don Bachek (1:29:758) and Kelly Gingras (1:28:584).
